CRACKER BARREL PRESENTATIONS

The D21 Conference Committee is pleased to announce that we will be having Cracker Barrel presentations.

Cracker Barrel presentations are fast-paced, 15-minute presentations on a specific topic. Each presenter will make their presentation on three occasions back-to-back.

You choose which presentations you want to attend and in which order. At the end of 15 minutes, an alarm will sound and you will go to the next presenter of your choice. The presenters stay where they are … you do the travelling.

Meet our Presenters:

TITLE: HOW YOU CAN HELP OUR CHILDREN, OUR FUTURE LEADERS.

Fred Jones DTMPresenter: Fred Jones DTM

Today’s youth face more challenges then any previous generation. They need skills to help them meet the demands of the rapidly changing world.

It has been stated that 65% of the jobs they will be doing when they reach adulthood do not exist today. Artificial intelligence and robotics are dramatically changing the workplace.

Youth need assistance to work on communicating, cooperating with each other and coping with challenges.

There are many options you as a Toastmaster have to assist our youth.

Join this session to review some of the options available to you to assist our youth to be successful when they enter adulthood.

Bio: Fred had organized youth programs since 1984 and has done so in Ontario, British Columbia and Australia.

He has been involved with sessions in public libraries, recreation centers, middle and high schools and other organizations such as air cadets.

Currently he is the creator of OurFutureLeaders.ca which promotes online youth group sessions.

TITLESPEAK TO ME LIKE YOU LOVE ME!

Presenter: Kristin Nickells, DTM

Does your language open doors or slam them closed?

Dialogue is the key to managing conflict, saying the things we need to say and enriching our relationships. And yet our ‘go to’ language often alienates and stops further dialogue or sends it spinning out of control.

And then we wonder what went wrong. Alienating language is pervasive; it is the language we grew up with and it permeates every aspect of our lives.

In this short presentation you will learn to identify 4 types of alienating language and what to say instead that will open amazing doors to dialogue in your life! Warning – you will hear your family, teachers, bosses, friends and even yourself in this language!
